Managing official documents is a challenge in itself. On top of that, keeping track of a child’s endless paperwork, from constant medical records to countless achievement certificates, can quickly become overwhelming.

Kidocs is a digital app that helps parents securely store, access, and organize their child’s records with customizable categories, event reminders, and shared access from anywhere.

Usability Testing

Everyone has their own way of organizing things, and documents are no exception. While keeping track of documents is a chaotic task in itself, parents are supposed to maintain the records of their kids as well, making the task more chaotic than it actually is, leaving parents scrambling to find what they need, when they need it.

While a few document storing apps exist, most focus solely on managing your own files, not someone else’s. Parents end up juggling between scanning apps, renaming tools, storage platforms, and file converting apps.

Identified Gaps

Managing kids’ and personal documents across different apps consumes time, storage and energy

Soft copies of documents for multiple children can easily get mixed up without careful organization.

Parents often make separate investments for their child and rely on verbal updates, making tracking difficult.

Despite having digital copies, parents must manually search for key details when filling forms.

Parents often neglect updating soft copies of photos and signatures and struggle to find them in the required resolution

Problem Statement

Parents of children under 14 often struggle to organize and securely store the soft copies of various important documents and records due to the presence of many categories of documents and unsynchronized style of organization with partner leading to miscommunication and confusions during urgencies.

The Solution

Process

The process started with building a sitemap and defining the key tasks, then curating an information architecture for each. From there, paper prototypes were created, followed by mid-fidelity designs, and finally the materials for the high-fidelity prototype and usability testing of the working prototype.
